A Special Worker

Unbeknownst to me, March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. So I was asked to photograph a man who works at a local business who has a developmental disability. His name is Mickey Tobin and for the past 13 years he’s worked at a local candy shop washing dishes and busing tables.

Mickey Tobin is extremely shy but friendly, at first I was afraid, that because he was so shy he wouldn’t be comfortable being photographed. However, after meeting him he was very nice and very easy to shoot pictures of. He knows a ton of rock and roll trivia and I found him to be easier to photograph than a lot of other people I meet. Most people get nervous in front of a camera and become self-conscious but Mickey just acted like I wasn’t even there! Perfect!

Here is a link to the full story the QCT did on Mickey.
