I love cars. Regular readers will know that because pretty much any chance I get to take my camera to a car show or a race track I will do just that.
So last week when I heard that one of the 375 limited run McLaren P1 supercars was in Fort Wayne I knew I had to check it out.
Growing up as a fanatic in the ’90s the one and only supercar holy grail was the McLaren F1. No one ever thought they would top their 231 mph car but the P1 does just that.
The hybrid-powered car has an electric motor capable of transporting the car 19 miles on electricity alone and a twin-turbo-charged V-8 for the times when you want to go a little bit farther. With 903 horsepower on tap it’s capable of going 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, a top speed of 217 mph and a surprisingly efficient 17 MPG.
Anyway, for a car guy it’s rare to get a chance to see such a rare car like this, especially one that will be a classic due to its place as one of the first hybrid hypercars.
A special thanks to David over at Dream Makers Automotive in Fort Wayne who was nice enough to pull back the cover on P1 and let me shoot it and many of the other automotive eye candy they have on hand.
